Light Balls Descending

The weather was hot and still, and in the park where I had set up for the night there were numerous people having evening picnics whilst enjoying the sunset time and after. Niagara-on-the-Lake is a popular tourist spot and this particular park gives a wide panoramic view of the lake. The sunsets there are spectacular.

The light balls were descending west of the Toronto skyline and out over the water. We have seen similar occurrences from both the north and south shores.

The far shore is 28 nautical miles (about 40 kms) from where I was located and I was about 20 feet above the lake's surface. Pearson International Airport is about 40 miles from where I was located.

Here are nine short clips put into one sequence showing a small amount of the light ball activity that night.

The background noises are people moving picnic tables, chattering, laughing, cars stopping and leaving, a motor bike idling its engine for sometime (during the boat event,) crickets chirping and more.

I was also documenting the events on my Pentax SLR attached to the back of the Celestron 8" reflector telescope and the camera shutter can be heard close by.
